Day one has begun! Felix had a great send off this morning at Multi Choice here in Blantyre Malawi, where he was prayed for by Pastor Glen before his 30 day journey began, many friends gathered together to give Felix a great send off!. Many news reporters were there and about 11 people cycled with him to the Muwanza boarder. Felix had a cracked rim on his bike but the problem was solved quickly as friends brought 2 rims to him. At 10.30am Malawi time Felix was half way to the Muwanza boarder and Felix reports the road is very smooth and nice and down hill most the way!

Day one continued.
Felix just called me at 6.30pm, Felix traveled 109K's today, and it took him 6 hours and 7 minutes. The last stretch to Muwanza Hotel was a little hard but he made it and he said "after today I know I am going to make it"!! Tomorrow Felix's next stop will be Tete which is 100k's away from Muwanza Hotel.

Day two 2nd June
Day Two has begun, Felix sent us an sms at 7am this morning with a Andrew Bester "paraphrase" of Isaiah 40:31 "They that wait upon the Lord shall mount their BIKES they shall RIDE and not be weary, they shall PEDAL and shall not faint and reach their destination."
Felix reported that he had a great nights sleep and felt well rested for todays journey to Tete 100K's away.

Day two continued... We just heard from Felix at 6pm Malawi time and he is now at Motel Tete in MOZAMBIQUE!! The boarder crossing from Malawi to Mozambique went very smooth.
The journey from Muwanza hotel to Tete was actually a little further than Felix thought. It was 135K's and it took 7 hours 42 minutes. That’s all cycling time not including little rests breaks. The weather was over cast and cool, the nice weather helped make it a nice smooth ride. The beginning part was hilly but the end was downhilll. Felix stops about every 30K's for s rest.
Today Felix ate Bananas and energy bars. Felix is very thankful that he had no Bike problems.
He is now looking forward to a meal and a good nights rest. Tomorrow he is heading for Luenha about 95K's away from Motel Tete.
Please continue to pray for Felix on this 30 day journey.
We will update you tomorrow on Felix's progress.

Day three 3d June
Felix reported that he had a great nights sleep at Motel Tete, a full 9 hours. He is now on his way to Luenha 95K's away. Please pray for Felix today that he will stay strong!
Today day 3 turned out to be a hard day for Felix, the roads were hilly all the way! He had no proper food; the journey from Motel Tete to Luenha was 91K's he arrived in Luhenha too late. It was very sunny all day. He slept over in Luenha in a "real African" Motel!!
He also had no phone signal to update us.

Day four 4th June
On Day four Felix started Cycling at 6am heading for Catandica, he traveled 152K's total and was looking for a town for a while. He traveled last part of the journey for 3 hours with a head lamp on his head arriving at 9.30pm. Felix spent the night in a small guest house and reported he had no real food. He did have a very good nights sleep that night!

Day five 5th June
I just heard from Felix at 7.40am today Day five (Tuesday). I must admit I was getting concerned as I had not heard from him since day three (Sunday) at 7am. Felix reports that he has had NO cell phone signal at all on his South African cell or Malawian cell. So he just purchased a Sim chip from Mozambique. The number is +258826108091. He will get a better signal having a local sim chip. Felix traveled 150K's yesterday and he is going to call me in two hours to give me an update for yesterday day four. So I will update you all later!
Day Five Continued... I just received 5 SMS's from Felix updating me the past couple of days when he had no phone coverage. Today Felix cycled to Vanduzi a 109K's away and Felix cycled it in 8 hours. It was very sunny today and a good day but he did end up having to Cycle one hour in the dark.
Felix had his first puncture today (flat tire)on his trailer it was on the gravel part of the road. His body is very achy tonight and he is ready for a good night’s sleep and looking forward to his stay in Chimoio. He is hoping to stay with missionary friend's of ours in Chimoio (about 30K's away from Vanduzi) and have a "rest" day on Thursday.

Day six 6th June
Day six has begun for Felix, he left Vanduzi at 8am and headed about 30K's to Chimoio. He will be staying the next two nights at missionary friends of ours in Chimoio.

He is a day ahead of his schedule. He was supposed to arrive in Chimoio tomorrow not today. So he is doing so well!
Day Six continued...
I just heard from Felix and he was enjoying a hamburger at the guest house in Chimoio, I think he was thankful to be eating some "real" food.
He reports he is very sore from sitting on the bike seat for so long. He is also very achy, Felix also mentioned that this journey is not easy but knows he is in Gods will and knows he is going to make it!
He will have a "rest day" tomorrow and on Friday will set out again for his next town 105K's away.

Day seven 7th June
Today on day seven is Felix's rest day! He reported to us today that he had a good restful day and feels so ready for tomorrow. The next fours days will not be so easy as there are not many towns to stop off at.
Today Felix got a chance to put in some photos...check them out!
Below is a photo of where Felix stayed in Chimoio today.

Day eight 8th June
Today Felix traveled 79K's in 4 hours and 22 minutes. Felix could of carried on cycling for further but the problem was that he would of had no where to stop at night fall.
Tonight he is staying at a guest house called Ochajual in Inchope. It was a nice sunny day today, which made it a very pleasant bike ride and Felix felt very refreshed from his rest that’s why he made such good time!
Tomorrow Felix will have a journey ahead of him of 150K's.
Hopefully the road will be like today nice and smooth.

Felix reported he is enjoying cycling so much today and is feeling lots of benefits from his Thursday rest and also feeling good after a good nights rest. Felix said he wants to thank the Chinese as they have paved the roads nicely! He feels like they paved it just for him! Felix is having a nice smooth ride today and is enjoying it. Felix wants to thank everybody for their love and prayers during this 30 day journey!

When he left Inchope this morning the beginning of the road was flat then it was down hill but the last 50k's was up hill and then down hill, then up hill again then down hill again. The journey today was very rough, Felix said for 20K's he rode his bike on the gravel part of the road as there were so many coal trucks traveling this route today. Today’s journey was 108KM's and it took 7 hours and 29 minutes. It was again very hilly.
Felix said he just ate the best hamburger in the world and when he was standing in line a lady who had found out what Felix was doing handed him a R100 ($14.00) right there in line.
Felix wants to give all Glory and Thanksgiving to God for his provision and protection during this 30 day journey. God has been with Felix the whole way!
A reception party is kindly planed for Felix by Group 4 Securicor in Pretoria, to receive Felix after completing his 30 day bike tour.
It will be held at Group 4 Securicor on the corner of Duncan and Schoenan St at 5pm in Hatfield.
Felix heard that his old primary school that he attended called “Fleur Primary School” are following his 30 day journey by looking at this blog often. They said they are very proud of him.
Tomorrow Felix heads to Middelburg about 110K's away.
Pretoria is well in sight!

Day twenty nine 29th June
Felix left at 6am this morning for Middelburg about 100K's away. He is feeling well rested after the rough journey yesterday.
Middelburg was originally a church town. Its name was changed from Nazareth to Middelburg in 1872 to mark its position – midway between Pretoria and Lydenburg.
Something really neat happened ANGUS BUCHAN writer of FAITH LIKE POTATOES PHONED Felix today to encourage him. Galatians 6:9 was given to him by Angus…”Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Felix was so exited!

Day Twenty Nine continued.....
Felix arrived safely in Middelburg.
Felix is staying in Midway Inn tonight. The weather was good cycling weather. Felix went to a cell group tonight and they gave him a very generous donation.
When Felix checked in at Midway inn there were no single rooms available so they kindly gave him a double room for the price of a single room but when Felix returned from cell group there was an envelope in his room with a refund of the money
He received two more sponsors today. God is so faithful.
Well tomorrow is the big final arrival day in Pretoria!

Day thirty 30th June

We just heard from Felix again and he made it to Group 4 Securicor at 6.15 tonight!
To your left is a photo of when Felix arrived. He was escorted in by local Traffic Police and a Group 4 Securicor Vehicle! It was an amazing welcoming! Also Felix got interviewed by one of the main Afrikaans Newspapers tonight. The report will be in Monday’s newspaper.

1st July - Pretoria
Felix had a "cycling free" day today! Felix said he has Chicken a la King for breakfast today!
Tonight he had the privilege of giving his testimony in a church service that is actually held in a pub (Church@Pub).

He enjoyed KFC ice cream today. I think Felix had a really good day of rest and rejoicing today! Felix was also able to answer his emails today.
Well Felix’s 30 day journey is over and Felix was protected each step(pedal)of the way and all Praise and Thanksgiving is given to the King of King and the Lord of Lords JESUS!

Reception at Chileke Airport

On the 14th of July Felix had a reception at Blantyre Airport after his two weeks rest in south Africa. He said that "all things comes together for those who loves the Lord". Now that all is done I can go and thank all my sponsors and collect the money.

Thanks

Firstly I am going to give all the Glory, honour and praises to my Creator and savior Jesus Christ. Without Him I can do nothing (John 15:5)

Then I would like to thank my family Ewald (brother), Leoni (sister) and her husband Rodney for their support from day one. I also dedicate this cycle tour and fund raising to my brother’s wife Hester who sadly passed away in January 2007. Our family got bonded closer with her stepping into to Gods Hands.

Next, our bloggerupperdater - Jayne. She has seriously walked the extra mile. Every day she updated the blogger twice. Sms's always came in on time and when I'm out of reach you can feel her prayers as she intercedes on my behalf. I am very proud of her and husband Rev. Kirk. Although she is suffering from MS (Multiple sclerosis). She gave her all as she does in life it self. Please keep on praying for her.
Jayne; God is going to heal you.

To the precious children of Malawi, if I can make a difference to one child; I have succeeded. I honestly see a lot of potential in these children. My prayer is that God will protect you where ever you are. That witchcraft will be destroyed and not seen as part of your culture. It is destroying the children and the future of Malawi and Africa.

Lastly, to all my friends, sponsors and people I don't even know. New friends I've met while on my tour and those who opened their homes to me. Your hospitality sms's and encouragement picked my spirit up on the most crucial times while cycling.

Unfortunately it’s in Afrikaans, my home language, but here is confirmation by the "Die Beeld" news paper in South Africa, that I made it. Also thanks to Leon Botha who interviewed me on arrival.

Even my Primary school kept tract of it
